WSM 2 v Dersingham 8
Dersingham started the game strongly with Saints finding it hard to cope with the physical size of Dersingham players. The passing, movement and throw-ins of the Dersingham players was of a much higher standard to ours.
WSM began to play some good football in the first half ; with good link up play from Emily Cooper, Emily Coleman and Caitlin who all had chance’s on goal . Our strikes on goal were met with good goal keeping and strong defending from Dersingham. During the first half W.S.M defenders E.W Roberts and Hannah were unable to clear balls quickly enough from there own area, giving Chloe no chance to stop attacks on goal and after 25 minutes we were 3 – 0 down . Kiera and Ebony came on towards the end of first half and gradually settled into the game . Before half time Emily W. R Roberts and Nuala had injury problems and did not come back on in the second half .
Half time score 4 -0.
A much better WSM team performance in the second half from Saints it saw us compete more with Dersingham. Harriet, Emily Cooper came on for Wilco and Nuala they both performed very well in defence . Harriet and Emily C made important tackles and connected well with other saint players. We did concede a couple of goals early in the second half, with a change of players going into different positions.
We were finally rewarded a goal with some good link up play from Jade Rivett, Emily Coleman and Caitlin who’s shoot on goal rebounded to Ebony who placed the ball to the side of the keeper - well done Ebony! With a goal comes confidence, Saints players got back together as a team, our second goal came with some excellent passing and movement from Ebony ,Caitlin, with Emily Cooper . Emily r an onto goal and sho t a pass by the Dersingham keeper.
.
In the later stages of the game both teams were still creating several chances on goal, it was Dersingham who had the sharper finishing in front of goal.
Final score 2 – 8
Towards the end of the game Nick was given a surprise from Emily Cooper , one of her teeth had come out !!
Players of the match were Caitlin and Ebony, who showed that when things don’t go the way you want to during a game, i.e. playing in different positions, you still need to keep competing and work as a team . Then the opportunity’s will come your way if you persevere.
To all girls, well played today you still kept battling when things didn’t go your way. We just need to get our heads up sooner, and make sure our passes are accurate in reaching, a Saint’s player.
